Yaletown heritage buildings are different to what an average North American is accustomed to. Vancouver has its own distinct style of green glass highrises and older looking buildings might not look as attractive at first sight. They probably offer less dramatic views and most don't offer underground parking for all tenants. All these factors might dissuade an average renter from pursuing a heritage loft rental. Having lived in one of the most desirable heritage buildings in Yaletown- the Hamilton at 1178 Hamilton Street, I can't even express what an amazing experience and privilege is to have one of the units. One must start with privacy. Floors are completely sound proof due to the thickness of the floors. These buildings were designed to withstand incredible loads as warehouses and floors had to be of appropriate strength and thickness. Walls are made of brick and offer a terrific insulation from the elements but also from street noise and neighbors.
